The Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG), the world’s largest community of SAP professionals, has announced a collaboration with the Configuration Workgroup (CWG), an international, not-for-profit user group of about 3,000 SAP customers and partners focused on product configuration.
Like ASUG, CWG promotes knowledge exchange to influence future SAP direction. ASUG and CWG are collaborating to create a Special Interest Group (SIG) within the ASUG ecosystem.
The CWG SIG, which launches in December, will incorporate CWG members within the ASUG Communities, creating a seamless integration while still supporting CWG independence as a user group. The new CWG SIG will provide SAP customers with increased opportunities to share knowledge and network with each other through CWG participation in face-to-face and virtual ASUG events. It also will increase opportunities for CWG to provide feedback and input to SAP on behalf of its members, said Bridgette Chambers, ASUG CEO.
“This new partnership between the ASUG and CWG communities is yet another way in which we’re providing value to our existing members,” Chambers said. “It also offers important benefit for CWG members and SAP by opening up a new channel of collaborative input. We’re excited about the opportunity and want to formally welcome CWG members into the ASUG ecosystem.”
As part of the collaboration, ASUG will offer CWG member companies who are not already ASUG members a complimentary membership through the end of 2011.
“The CWG leadership team is excited about the synergy created by this alignment with ASUG,” said Don Cochran, CWG President. “It’s an opportunity to more powerfully represent the collective voice of our members while retaining our unique independence.”
While CWG will have increased visibility at ASUG educational events, chapter meetings and conferences, it will continue to independently host its European and North American conferences.
ASUG and CWG are currently in the process of creating a leadership team for the CWG SIG.
After the launch, ASUG will create a special section on asug.com that will be home to CWG SIG information, featuring upcoming events, leadership team and collaboration workspaces, as well as discussion boards, blogs, polling and other announcements.
